THOUGHTS:

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Shared by MakeMyDay-owner@sparklist.com

SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

A MATTER OF THE HEART
By Richard P. McBrien

If love is the soul of Christian existence, it must be at the heart of every other Christian virtue. Thus, for example:

JUSTICE without love is legalism;
FAITH without love is ideology;
HOPE without love is self-centeredness;
FORGIVENESS without love is self-centeredness;
FORTITUDE without love is recklessness;
GENEROSITY without love is extravagance;
CARE without love is mere duty;
FIDELITY without love is servitude.

Every virtue is an expression of love. No virtue is really a virtue unless it is permeated, or informed, by love 1 Corinthians 13).

THIS & THAT:

SOME OF MY ANSWERING MACHINE MESSAGES . . .

I'm home right now . . . I'm just screening my calls. So just start talking and if you're someone I want to speak to, I'll pick up the phone. Otherwise, well, what can I say?

Hi, you have reached the Morrises. Please leave your name, phone number and a message and if we like it we will return your call.

Hi. This is Frank. I've shut the ringers off on my phones and taken a sedative. As soon as I finish this recording I'm going to bed indefinitely. When I wake up I'll play my messages. Please leave one.

Hello, this is Dr. Edmunds If this were the best of all possible worlds, Frank could come to the phone right now, but he can't, so if you could leave your name and number . . .

Hello? pause for a few seconds Sorry, he's not here right now, but if you leave a message, he'll get back to you.

Hello, this is the Morris residence. We're in the middle of a family fight right now. Leave your name and number at the beep and whoever wins will call you right back.

ALFORD, SCOTLAND - Scottish shopkeeper Allan Gordon is fed up with men coming back to his store to exchange paint because their wives hate the color.

"We will not supply husbands with colored paint without a signed note from their wives," says a new sign Gordon has posted beside the paint mixing machine at his shop in Alford.

If nothing else, "men are thinking a bit harder about what they buy," since he put up the sign, Gordon said in an interview with the London Daily Mail.
