It's not the load that breaks you down; it's the way you carry it. - Lena Horne

~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:
My three year-old was on my heels no matter where I went. Whenever I stopped to do something and turned back around, I would trip over him.
I patiently suggested fun activities to keep him occupied. But he simply smiled an innocent smile and said, 'Oh that's all right, Mommy, I'd rather be in here with you.' Then he continued to bounce happily along behind me.
After stepping on his toes for the fifth time, I began to lose patience. When I asked him why he was acting this way, he looked up at me with sweet green eyes and said, 'Well, Mommy my teacher told me to walk in Jesus' footsteps. But I can't see Him, so I'm walking in yours.'
~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
Many years ago, a huge oil refinery caught fire. Flames shot hundreds of feet into the air and the sky filled with grimy smoke. The heat was so intense that fire fighters parked a block away, hoping for the heat to die down. Instead, the fire raged ever closer to a nearby row of tanks.
Suddenly, a fire truck came careening down the street. With its brakes screeching, it hit the curb directly in front of the blaze. The fire fighters jumped out and began to battle the blaze. Inspired by this act, the other firefighters drove closer and joined in the fight. As a result of their cooperative effort, the fire was brought under control in the nick of time.
Those who witnessed these events decided to honor the man who had driven the lead fire truck to the brink of the blaze. In preparing for the awards ceremony, the mayor said, "Captain, we want to honor you for you fantastic act. You prevented the loss of property, perhaps even the loss of life. Is there something we can give you as a token of our appreciation?" The captain replied without hesitation, "Your Honor, a new set of brakes would be dandy!"

Why did the English call their gold coins guineas?
Because the gold used for the coins was originally minted in Guinea, in West Africa. Although the coins haven't been minted since 1813, the term guinea is still used to denote a value of 21 shillings.
