~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune. - William James
Subjects: Difficulties, Attitude
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

John McNeil, a minister in the British Isles, reports that he once pastored a church that was heavily in debt. This worried him, and he prayed a lot about it. One day a stranger came to his office and said he was aware of the church's indebtedness and offered to help. Then, laying a blank check on the pastor's desk, promised to return later and sign the check.

The pastor couldn't believe his senses. After the man left, he began to rationalize: "This can't be true. Does this man realize that our debt runs into thousands of pounds? I doubt he would pay it all - if he knew. And yet he told me to make it out for the full amount. No, that would be taking unfair advantage. I'll put down only half." And that is what he did.

When the stranger returned, he signed the check without hesitation. He obviously meant what he said. The church's benefactor was a well-known philanthropist. When the pastor realized that the man was fully capable of paying off the debt, he wished he had written in the full amount the church owed.

~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:
When one of the senior members of our congregation reached her one hundredth birthday, that very special milestone, she was escorted to the pulpit for a brief interview. She was asked, "If you had just one wish granted today, what would it be?"
Without any hesitation she responded: "If only I could be 80 again!"
