~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
Care more than others think wise,
Risk more than others think safe,
Dream more than others think practical,
Expect more than others think possible.
- Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks Coffee
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

An elderly woman had lost her husband, George, some years earlier in an automobile accident. Theirs had been a long and happy marriage, and she missed him terribly. When she suffered a broken leg, she felt more confined and alone than ever. One particularly blue day, she found herself longing once again for her husband's company. She sat in her living room and began to weep. "Dear God," she prayed, "please give me the strength to get through this hour."

Get your Bible, a quiet voice inside her said. But her Bible was in the bedroom, and, with her leg in a cast, she thought it would be too hard to retrieve. Then she remembered a small travel Bible on a nearby bookshelf. She reached for it and turned the pages to find a favorite Scripture.

Suddenly a letter fell into her lap. She carefully unfolded the yellowed pages. It was a love letter from George. In it, he expressed his deep affection for her. His words of comfort went straight to her lonely heart. In the back pages of the Bible she found more notes from George. He had written them in the hospital while awaiting an operation, apparently fearing he would not return home. After he recovered, the notes were forgotten.

That woman spent the rest of the afternoon basking in the company of her husbands letters and in the certainty that the Lord cared for her.

~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
EVERETT, Wash. (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Washington state's Bevis Lake has been renamed by the U.S. Census Bureau Butthead Lake, which has the locals going "heh, heh."
The small lake near Everett, Wash., is known as Bevis Lake by the state Department of Natural Resources as well as the U.S. Geological Survey, the Everett Herald reported Friday.
Mysteriously, however, the lake showed up on U.S. Census records as Butthead Lake.
"Someone is playing a joke, I think," Ken Brown, a DNR land surveyor, told the newspaper.
"Beavis and Butt-head" were a pair of MTV cartoon teenagers who watched music videos, got into trouble and frequently snickered "heh, heh."
Brown suggested maybe someone at the Census Bureau was bored.
~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:

One Sabbath during the children's story our storyteller was talking with the children about the image in King Nebuchadnezzar's forgotten dream. When she came to the toes of the feet of iron and clay, she asked if they knew where we are living today. Three-year-old Jhaivic spoke up loud and clear with his decisive answer: "In Virginia!"

~~~~~~~ TRIVIA:
Dial M For "Man, I'm Not Bright!"
In Planville, Conn., a man who was planning to rob the local Dairy Mart called 9-1-1 to report a robbery in progress at another Dairy Mart across town, thinking the police would go to that location, leaving him free to commit his robbery. Unfortunately, he got mixed up and gave police the address of the Dairy Mart he planned to rob. He was arrested while committing the crime.
