~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
One of life's gifts is that each of us, no matter how tired and downtrodden, finds reasons for thankfulness. - J. Robert Maskin
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

In learning to swim I recall struggling beyond measure. Every lesson I kept being like a stone and sinking to the bottom.

Constantly the battle against the fear of drowning raged in my head. In fact, I could see myself, as a five year old, not having the strength to stay afloat, and drifting downwards into the murky oblivion of death. What a morbid yet frightening reality for a youngster!

Then, one day, a new instructor arrived. His swimming lessons were a little different. Immediately he detected my great fear, and as I started to swim the mandatory five metres for beginners he walked alongside with his hand underneath my belly. That one hand was like a huge safety net in my mind, knowing that I couldn’t drown - my instructor was with me!

“Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.” Psalms 23:4

~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
The Humor Of Erma Bombeck
"My kids always perceived the bathroom as a place where you wait it out until all the groceries are unloaded from the car."
"Making coffee...is the only thing 'real men' do that doesn't seem to threaten their masculinity. To women, it's on the same domestic entry level as taking a chicken out of the freezer to thaw."
"Giving birth is little more than a set of muscular contractions granting passage of a child. Then the mother is born."
"Marriage has no guarantees. If that's what you're looking for, go live with a car battery."
"Getting out of the hospital is a lot like resigning from a book club. You're not out of it until the computer SAYS you're out of it."
On vacations: "We hit the sunny beaches where we occupy ourselves keeping the sun off our skin, the saltwater off our bodies, and the sand out of our belongings."
"My theory on housework is, if the item doesn't multiply, smell, catch on fire, or block the refrigerator door, let it be. No one cares. Why should you?"
"I never leaf through a copy of 'National Geographic' without realizing how lucky we are to live in a society where it is traditional to wear clothes."
"When mothers talk about the depression of the empty nest, they're not mourning the passing of all those wet towels on the floor, or the music that numbs your teeth, or even the bottle of capless shampoo dribbling down the shower drain. They're upset because they've gone from supervisor of a child's life to a spectator. It's like being the vice-president of the United States.
~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:

In 1802, Timothy Dexter published a twenty-four page pamphlet (entitled "A Pickle for the Knowing Ones") entirely devoid of periods, commas, and other punctuation. In subsequent editions, in deference to demanding readers, Dexter agreed to add some punctuation. There was, however, a small catch: rather than disperse punctuation throughout the text, the author had simply added an extra page containing nothing but punctuation, preceded by a short message:

"the nowing ones complane of my book the fust edition had no stops I put in a nuf here and thay may peper and solt it as they please"!
