~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
It isn't what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in your heart. - Author Unknown
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

At thirty-plus, I considered myself too old to ride a merry-go-round. But my little five-year-old niece Dina pleaded with me to ride the big, white horse. Fearing she might fall, I strapped her into the saddle, then climbed onto the big brown steed next to hers. As we whirled faster and faster to the calliope strains of "In the Good Old Summertime," I noticed Dina's radiant face. Happily, she was singing along with the music, and so I relaxed too, getting into the spirit of things.

When we passed the gold-ring pole, I called over to Dina proudly, "I'm going to try for the gold ring." She didn't respond. She was engrossed in the thrill of the ride, enjoying it all. I leaned out toward the pole and made a grab... and missed. "Next time," I said. But next time I missed again. And again. I was annoyed. "If only I can get a gold ring, Dina," I said, "you'll have a free ride!"

"I don't care about a free ride, Auntie," she answered. "I'm having fun on this one."

Well, some people might say that Dina was too complacent for her young years. But her words soothed the defeat of not getting the gold ring. And instead, like Dina, I sat back to enjoy the simple thrill of the ride.

~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:
They made the first, Russian built, computer language translator. . To test it, the representative of the company said, "Just speak into the microphone." So, the customer spoke this phrase (in French,) "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."
The machine cranked and groaned and finally translated it into English. Only it said, "The vodka's O.K. but the meat is spoiled."
~~~~~~~ TRIVIA:

LONDON (Reuters) - Ziggy the cat used up at least one of his nine lives after surviving for 17 days without food on a 2,300 mile voyage that took him from northern Israel to England.

The skinny white cat named after Ziggy Stardust -- the character created by David Bowie in the 1970s, because like the rock star he has one green and one blue eye -- made his epic trip as a stowaway in a 40-foot container.

His journey began when he wandered into a consignment of plastic goods which were then sealed in Afula in Israel and shipped from Haifa on October 31.

It ended when he emerged, exhausted, starving and dehydrated, at a warehouse in Whitworth in Lancashire on Friday.

"When the container was finally opened, staff unloading it got a real surprise when this fluffy white cat shot out," said Colin Barton, the local authority's animal health officer who helped capture Ziggy.

"I think he had probably used up some of his nine lives."

The cat had not only survived but was able to resist capture for five hours.

"I think he was scared to death," said James Ratcliff, of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). "He'd travelled all that way and got to a strange country and ran for his life."

Ziggy's background or owners remain a mystery as he had no collar or microchip, but the RSCPA believe he is someone's pet because he is so friendly. He will now stay in quarantine in Britain for six months as a precaution against rabies.
